Mining is the process of retrieving minerals from mines and has many pros and cons. On the positive side, people get minerals, which are essential to their daily life. Products including skin care, cosmetics, and many others contain minerals. On the negative side, there are many bad things. In fact, the mining process itself is a very dangerous activity. In the past, mining people tend to a live shorter live. Although many people would probably argue that the improvement in medical technology has resolve much this problem; however, that is not the case because mining still has many other severe effects. According to â€Å"Foundation of Earth Science 7th edition†, mining leads to many serious problems in terms of human health and environment. To begin with, the health of the mine workers are at great risk because mining involves a lot of harmful chemical compounds. One example would be Uranium mines. According to a fact sheet published by International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War, Uranium is so toxic that causes mutation in human DNA and chromes. Furthermore, after going through nuclear decay, it also produces a byproduct called Radon in the form of radioactive gas.
